Lovejoy Pottery is the working art studio of Dan and Nancy Lovejoy, located in Wendell, North Carolina.
Dan and Nancy are both avid readers. Dan, as an undergraduate at the School of Design at N.C. State, hitchhiked across the country and went on to graduate with a BA in Film Production from San Francisco State State in 1971. Following the release of his controversial documentary film "Selective Service System" he went underground. In 1970, Nancy graduated from Orange High School in Hillsborough, N.C.
Dan started to paint seriously in Cape Charles, VA in 1973. Then, in 1978 Dan and Nancy met at the Raleigh Artist's Community in Raleigh, N.C. Together they expanded their interest in architectural tiles and installations into a pottery studio over 27 years, creating both thrown functional and traditional pieces, as well as sculptural and handbuilt vessels.
Dan has supported his family as a carpenter, home builder, furniture maker, and pharmaceutical tech-op. Nancy has worked as a homemaker, mother, and potter. They have two children, twins, Henry and Cara.
